Who this policy applies to
This policy explains how Damon Simms handles personal information collected through damonsimms.me. I am responsible for that information under New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020.
Information I collect
If you use the contact form, I collect the information you provide: your name, email address, phone number and message. The form also records your IP address and browser user-agent for security and troubleshooting.
The site uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use it. These services may collect technical and usage information such as device and browser details, approximate location, pages viewed and interactions. Cookies or similar technologies may be used for this purpose.
Google reCAPTCHA helps protect the form from abuse. Embedded podcast and video media is provided by Spotify and YouTube. Those providers may receive technical and usage information when their services load.
How I use information
- To respond to enquiries and continue conversations you start.
- To protect the site, prevent spam and troubleshoot problems.
- To understand site use and improve its content and performance.
- To meet legal obligations and protect legitimate rights.
I do not sell your personal information.
Service providers and overseas processing
Contact-form submissions are delivered through Slack. The site also relies on Cloudflare, Google, YouTube, Microsoft Clarity and Spotify for hosting, security, analytics and embedded media. These providers process information on my behalf and may store or process it outside New Zealand under their own privacy and security arrangements.
Links to Google Calendar, LinkedIn and the project websites take you to third-party services. Their privacy policies apply once you leave this site.
Storage and retention
I take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Information is kept only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including any legal or record-keeping requirements.
Your choices and rights
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, although some site features may then work differently. Under the Privacy Act 2020, you may ask to access or correct personal information I hold about you.

Changes to this policy
I may update this policy when the site, its service providers or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
